Prof. Rajoo Singh Chhina is a highly recognized gastroenterologist, medical teacher, and administrator
with over 35 years of clinical excellence. Currently the Director of Gastroenterology at Fortis Hospital,
Ludhiana, he also serves as the Chairperson of the Faculty Selection Committee and Governing Board
Member of AIIMS, Deoghar.
Trained at the prestigious Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER),
Chandigarh, Dr. Chhina has held several high-profile academic positions, including Dean Academics
and Head of Gastroenterology at Dayanand Medical College & Hospital (DMC&H), Ludhiana.
Global Research & Public Health Leadership
• International Expert: He serves as a Technical Advisor to the United Nations (UNIDO) on an
international project concerning biomedical waste management under the aegis of the Global
Environmental Fund.
• Global Academic Fellowships: He was a WHO Fellow at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic, Rochester,
USA, and completed a training fellowship at JICHI University, Japan. He is also a recipient of the
coveted FAIMER fellowship.
• Nutritional Advocacy: He has served as the Secretary of the Nutritional Society of India and was a
member of the national committee for the International Union of Nutritional Sciences.
Distinguished Awards & Recognitions
❖ Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Award (2021): Awarded by the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Government of India, for his distinguished service to the nation.
❖ K. L. Wig Oration (2015): Conferred at Patna for his outstanding contributions to medical
education and clinical excellence.
❖ G. S. Sainani Oration (2010): Awarded at IACMCON in Kolkata in recognition of his eminence
in the field of medicine.
❖ Fellowships of Excellence: An elected Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences
(FAMS), the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, and the International College of Physicians
(FIACP).
