The Evolving Methodologies
Computer based Examinations
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has been constantly evolving its
examination methodology. Many of its exams are conducted on a computer based platform, which
enables the Board to evaluate the cognitive
domain of a candidate through image-based
questions. These exams mark a paradigm
shift and are based out of clinical images,
radiological images, electrocardiograms, and
other such practical aspects. The changeover has facilitated greater fairness in the examinations by
preventing leakage of question papers. The Board also
captures the biometrics of the candidates and ensures
continuous closed circuit television surveillance
during the examination to preclude unfair means.
Commencing in 2025, NBEMS integrated Aadhaar-based enrollment and authentication protocols to
further strengthen the security and integrity of its examinations.
rd
On 03 August, 2025, NBEMS successfully conducted NEET-PG 2025 for over 2,42,000 candidates
across 301 cities, marking India’s largest computer-based examination ever executed in a single shift.
Fortifying Exam Integrity using Aadhaar Authentication
In the high-stakes arena of medical education, the NBEMS serves as the ultimate guardian of
professional standards. As the body responsible for certifying the nation’s medical specialists,
NBEMS recognizes that academic excellence must be anchored in absolute integrity. By leveraging
the Unique Identification Authority of
India (UIDAI) infrastructure, NBEMS
now enforces a non-repudiable verification
process, which matches the candidate’s
biometric data in real-time against the
secure Aadhaar database to ensures right
candidate takes the exam, every time.
This initiative is a cornerstone of the
NBEMS vision for a transparent and
technology-driven ecosystem which ensure success is determined solely by knowledge and merit.
