Led by this affirmative “ahead of the times” approach, the board has also been
progressively increasing its total number of postgraduate and postdoctoral seats (Table 3). Beginning
with a mere 146 seats in 1982, the NBEMS today offers a total of 14,409 postgraduate seats each
year, a more than 100-fold quantum jump.
