NBEMS conducts the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), a mandatory
licensing examination for Indian citizens who have acquired their primary medical qualifications
abroad. Since its inception in 2002, this examination has served as a critical quality control measure
for medical registration of foreign medical graduates in India. Extending this regulatory expertise, the
Board also conducts similar licentiate examinations for both dental graduates and postgraduates.
Furthermore, the international standing and trust of NBEMS is reflected in its responsibility for
conducting the Medical and Dental Registration Examinations for the Republic of Mauritius,
highlighting its role beyond national
borders.
The NBEMS administers
nearly a dozen high-stakes medical
examinations nationwide, each
meticulously designed to uphold the

our distinguished faculty and subject
matter experts. The assessments of
NBEMS are known for their

aspirants. To ensure absolute precision,
NBEMS employs a rigorous post-
examination review process,
conducting exhaustive audits.
The Board conducts the exit exams for
111 post-graduate and postdoctoral programmes. Many new fellowship and DNB programme have
been launched by NBEMS in the recent years, which has significantly enhanced the count of exit
examinations beyond hundred.
Table 1 highlights a bird’s eye view to the various examinations being conducted by the Board. The
NBEMS examinations are known for its uniform standards, absolute sanctity and fair conduct. This
stature has been achieved over the decades by NBEMS making it at par with contemporary
organizations in the field of medical examinations across the globe.
