ounded in 1975 to elevate national postgraduate medical training standards, the National
Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences represents a legacy of creative strategy,
collaboration with healthcare providers, and the establishment of innovative learning hubs
spanning urban and rural landscapes. Originating from humble beginnings, this vibrant journey
weathered numerous obstacles; however, persevering through adversity, the Board emerged as a
primary protector of medical specialization, pioneering unexplored educational frontiers. As an
autonomous entity under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the NBEMS currently provides
postgraduate curricula in one hundred eleven medical and surgical specialities, many maturing
under its dedicated stewardship. Revolutionizing candidate assessments - whether certifying foreign
medical graduates for Indian practice or evaluating aspirants seeking specialized postgraduate
pathways. The Board administers various entrance examinations, establishes training benchmarks,
and conducts rigorous exit evaluations for every discipline. Embracing a forward-thinking ethos,
the organization strives to fortify and unify postgraduate medical standards nationwide, fostering
superior scholarship through a modern, inclusive, and adaptive methodology. Central to this
mission, it currently maintains a powerful alliance with a vast network of accredited public and
private healthcare institutions throughout India.
