Prof. (Dr.) Abhijat Sheth is a distinguished Cardiothoracic Surgeon, statesman, and academician whose
career is defined by the four facets of human virtue: self-awareness, conscience, independent will, and
creative imagination. As a "charioteer" of medical education in India, he has spearheaded a transformative
era for the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), fostering an organizational
culture centered on accountability, quality, and the "mind café" philosophy of open innovation.
Under his stewardship, postgraduate medical education has been propelled into a "higher orbit," ensuring
that the Indian healthcare task force is not only globally competitive but deeply committed to ethical
excellence.
Global Recognition & Distinguished Honours
Dr. Sheth’s contributions have been recognized by the highest national and international bodies, reflecting
his impact as a thinker and administrator:

Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare lesson live stream on YouTube," a testament to his commitment
to digital integration in medicine.
❖ Lifetime Achievement: Honoured with the AAPI USA Lifetime Achievement Award (2024) and
the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Award (2021) for his exemplary presidency at NBEMS.

Raju Excellence Award (2019).
❖ Governmental & Professional Praise: Received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry
of Health and Family Welfare (2019) for unprecedented work in medical education, and was
named Professor Emeritus by the IMA in 2021.
Beyond his technical mastery as a surgeon, Dr. Sheth is a firm believer that "The Law is King." He
advocates for a healthcare system where every stakeholder—from staff and accredited institutions to young
postgraduates—receives their due. His leadership style is characterized by a "steadfast will" to implement
ideas that bridge the gap between academic theory and clinical practice, ensuring that empathy and integrity
remain the heartbeat of modern medicine.
