programme.
Good Clinical Practice Guidelines
In order to educate and inculcate the cardinal principles of ethical and professional conduct among
the National Board residents, the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has drawn the
good clinical practice guidelines. These were formally unveiled and placed in the public domain on
July 1, 2020 by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare.
Creation of Specialty Boards
Through a duly constituted committee, National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has taken
an initiative to establish specialty boards in all the disciplines where the board runs academic
programmes. These specialty boards have been working diligently to redefine the accreditation
criteria, revise the curricula and offer suggestions for advancing new academic programmes.
Reservation for Service Doctors
With effect from the year 2020, National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has announced
a reservation for in-service candidates for pursuing Diplomate of National Board programmes in the
Government hospitals. In keeping with this newfound policy, 50 per cent of the DNB seats in the
Government Hospitals have been reserved for the in-service candidates of the state and the
counselling for these seats is conducted by the state government.
Setting up of Sponsored Postgraduate Seats
With effect from the year 2020, National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has kept certain
Diplomate of National Board seats as sponsored seats, wherein the State Governments can nominate
in-service candidates for post- graduate and post-doctoral training in NBEMS accredited institutes.
This allows the in-service candidates of a state to obtain specialist skills in institutions which fall
beyond the boundaries of their state.
Setting up of National Web Learning Programme
National Board has successfully launched more than two thousand lectures and presentations focusing
on more than eighty specialties on web space. This resource has been hugely welcomed by the
postgraduate trainees working in the district and smaller hospitals. This national web learning
