The unique win-win blueprint
The National Board has a distinct blueprint. It seeks to empower and enrich the country’s
human resource in diverse specialist and super specialist medical and surgical disciplines through the
induction of a robust, innovative, low-cost postgraduate teaching programme. The focus is on
optimization of the
existing well-
founded healthcare
facilities that offer
vast clinical
experience and
have highly-skilful
and erudite
clinicians who can
double up well as
teachers. Optimum
utilization of large
existing hospitals in
the country which
offer a vast clinical experience and have highly-skilful, erudite clinicians on their staff who can teach
and train the postgraduate students is the guiding theme of National Board of Examinations in
Medical Sciences. To accomplish its mission, National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences
has accredited a large number of medical institutions both in the public and private segment. These
hospitals are its partners in postgraduate medical education. This innovative approach is associated
with a number of benefits. It maximizes the utilization of existing hospital facilities, builds an
academic milieu in these institutions, inspires the clinician-teachers to update their knowledge, and
most significantly, improves the standards of patient care through 24 × 7 presence of young residents
who stand committed to learn and perform, and possess the energy of youth. In essence, it is a win-
win formula for all stakeholders.
